Nowadays, cloud computing is already one of the “hot words” in the field of emerging technologies and services, and a new storage model-cloud storage has been extended from the concept and practice of cloud computing. Cloud storage is entering our lives through various application services, gradually changing our perception of traditional storage methods, and constantly refreshing file storage methods. Various large search platforms need to process more than tens of billions of data every day, and most of them are unstructured or semi-structured data. Therefore, it is urgent to build a storage and computing platform to manage massive data more simply. The emergence of cloud computing and cloud storage can effectively solve this problem. Cloud computing is an application model that connects IT resources (such as servers, storage, applications, and services) through a network to form a shared resource pool to provide users with on-demand services while enabling rapid deployment of resources.
Cloud storage has been developed based on cloud computing. Cloud storage is a part of cloud computing related to data storage, archiving, and backup. It is an innovative service. We can understand the definition of cloud storage from two aspects: First, in terms of user-oriented service forms, it is an application model that provides on-demand services. Users can connect to cloud storage resources through the network and store data anytime and anywhere in the cloud; Second, in terms of building cloud storage services, it uses technologies such as distributed, virtualization, and intelligent configuration to achieve massive, elastically scalable, low-cost, and low-energy shared storage resources.
Cloud storage has the characteristics of high reliability, high availability, high security, standardization, and low cost. These features are achieved by technologies such as distributed access, global access to space, virtualized perception capabilities, data flow capabilities, intelligent spatial distribution, and green energy saving. From the structural model point of view, cloud storage is mainly composed of thousands of network storage devices, distributed file systems, and other storage middleware. Its structure is divided into 4 layers, from bottom to top the storage layer, management, and scheduling layer, application interface layer, and access layer.
Like cloud computing, the security of cloud storage has always attracted attention. Whether it is an enterprise or an ordinary user, the first consideration is always its security. Information security response and technical guarantee are relative. How to provide users with more convenient storage services based on protecting information security is also the focus of future cloud storage technology development.
